SCHOLARSHIPS & AWARDS

DR. O. WILSON WINTERS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

In alignment with the fraternity’s aim of “manly deeds, scholarship and love for all mankind”, the Brother Dr. O. Wilson Winters Memorial Scholarship Program, consisting of the Rho Chapter Awards, Watkins Family Memorial College Awards, Whitney Family Memorial High School Awards, and Paul F. Frost Memorial Awards, provides young men from the greater Philadelphia Region with monetary awards to assist in their educational pursuits.

RHO CHAPTER AWARDS

The Rho Chapter Awards are given to brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Recipients are currently enrolled in college and have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 grading scale. Recipients have demonstrated excellence in extra-curricular and community service activities as well as demonstrated progress toward achieving their scholastic and career ambitions. Recipients receive a monetary award in the amount of $1,200.

WATKINS FAMILY MEMORIAL COLLEGE AWARDS

The Watkins Family Memorial College Awards are given in honor of the Watkins Family. Recipients are currently enrolled in college and have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 grading scale. Recipients have demonstrated excellence in extra-curricular and community service activities as well as demonstrated progress toward achieving their scholastic and career ambitions. Recipients receive a monetary award in the amount of $1,000.

 

WHITNEY FAMILY MEMORIAL HIGH SCHOOL AWARDS

The Whitney Family Memorial High School Awards are given in honor of the Whitney Family. Recipients are graduates from their respective high schools and have been accepted into a college or university where they will continue their education. Recipients have achieved a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 grading scale, and have also demonstrated excellence in extra-curricular and community service activities. Recipients receive a monetary award in the amount of $1,000.

 

PAUL M. FROST MEMORIAL BOOK AWARDS

The Paul M. Frost Memorial Book Awards are given in honor Brother Paul M. Frost. Recipients are young men (Kindergarten through 12th grade) who are mentored by members of Rho Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Recipients are awarded a $50 gift certificate to Barnes and Noble Book Store to purchase new reading material to aid in their intellectual development.
